Support Groups
You Are Not Alone. Healing Is Possible
Shining Light in Darkness provides ongoing support groups and workshops for survivors throughout the year. Many survivors feel like they don’t have anyone to talk to about their experiences with sexual violence and domestic violence. Support groups offer a safe space to talk to people with similar experiences. Our groups give survivors the opportunity to support and encourage each other.
Domestic Violence Support Groups
Shining Light in Darkness offers sessions for individuals who have been physically, emotionally, or psychologically abused by an intimate partner including a spouse, date, same-sex partner, or lover.
Sexual Violence Support Groups
The survivors of sexual assault group is designed for individuals who have experienced Molestation, rape, sexual assault, date rape, or other incidents of sexual violence at any time in their life.
We offer discussion-based groups and activity-focused groups. Each group is led by trained facilitators who have experience working with survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence. Most groups have only 5-15 members and meet weekly for 8-12 weeks. Once they begin, groups are closed to new members.
Please note that all support groups require pre-meetings with facilitators. If you are interested in joining a group, you can contact us at info@slidfnd.org. We can tell you about upcoming opportunities and how they work.
