C.R.I.S.I.S Program Overview
Every minute counts when a survivor of domestic violence or sexual assault reaches out for help. The Crisis Response and Integrated Services for Immediate Support (CRISIS) program, designed by Shining Light In Darkness (SLID), ensures that survivors receive the care they need when they need it most. This innovative program prioritizes immediate safety, ongoing support, and community education, laying the foundation for survivors to rebuild their lives.
The C.R.I.S.I.S program integrates services across multiple access points, including a 24/7 hotline, SMS text support, and front-door crisis assessment. At each step, survivors undergo a trauma-informed danger and safety assessment, ensuring their immediate risks are addressed. Once stabilized, survivors are supported through personalized case management, connecting them to essential resources like emergency housing, medical care, legal assistance, and therapy. Through this approach, survivors gain the tools and support needed to regain control of their lives.
Key Services of the C.R.I.S.I.S Program:
Immediate Support and Risk Assessment: Survivor safety is assessed in real-time, ensuring that urgent needs are met promptly through our 24/7 hotline, SMS text line, and in-person services.

Case Management: Survivors receive personalized guidance throughout their healing journey, helping them navigate housing options, legal resources, medical care, and therapy, tailored to their unique circumstances.

Community Outreach and Education: We provide training and education on sexual assault and domestic violence to professionals and community members. This includes workshops for healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community leaders, focusing on trauma-informed care, bystander intervention, and legal options. This outreach empowers the community to be proactive in supporting survivors.

Through these comprehensive services, the C.R.I.S.I.S program aims to support survivors, stabilizing their situations and helping them build a path forward. Our long-term goals are not only to ensure immediate safety but also to promote recovery and empowerment, with survivors gaining access to ongoing support such as financial literacy, mental health resources, and self-advocacy programs.
Our program also extends its impact through outreach and education. We provide professional training to healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community leaders on trauma-informed care, while equipping community members with the tools to recognize and respond to abuse. By fostering awareness, we create a network of allies committed to supporting survivors.
The C.R.I.S.I.S program doesn’t just respond to emergencies—it empowers survivors to heal and thrive. Through comprehensive, timely services, we aim to support survivors, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and supported on their journey toward long-term recovery.
